Vanity| FOTD:Smokey Contour

I wore this look out to a jazz night with my lady friends.

Products Used:
Eyebrows: Benefit Brow Zings in Dark

Eyes: Urban Decay Perversion pencil all over the lid. I used the matte black in the Naked 2 palette to blend out the edges of the pencil and over the top of it to set it. In the inner corners, I used Suspect in the Naked 2 Palette and Foxxy on the brow bone as a highlight. L'Oreal Liquid Liner and Benefit They're Real mascara.

*TIP*Because I wanted to use a lot of highlighting and contouring, I kept my eyeshadow matte as to not compete with the shine of the highlighter.

Face: I used Benefit's Watts Up Highlighter on my cheekbones and in my T-Zone. I chose not to use a foundation, opting for MAC Pro Concealer in NW45 under my eyes and around my lips. Under my cheekbones, I used Inglot's AMC Powder in 68 and swept it along my temples and at my jawline. I chose not to wear a blush...instead, I blended the contour and highlight on the apples of my cheeks.

Lips: Lip balm...easy peasy...only because I was going to eat and I hate the cleanup involved in eating with lipstick.

Of course....check out my book, Counter Girls! www.counter-girls.com for all the secrets behind being a department store makeup artist.

Vanity| FOTD: Wintry Purple

For my first day back from my European adventure, I chose a simple look in theory. Smokey eyes are the easiest look to accomplish if you want to look like you tried. I paired it with a pop of color or my lips to make the weather seem less bleak. The photos were taken on my way to work in natural light.

Face:
MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC 50
Benefit Boi-ing Concealer #4 as a highlighter on nose, around brows and under eyes.
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Deep Dark as an all-over powder.

Brows:
I use MAC pencil in Stud to create the outline of my brows and Benefit Brow Zings in Dark to fill them in.

Eyes:
Maybelline cream liner in black as a base. Black eyeshadow from the Urban Decay Naked Palette all over the lid. Maybelline cream liner on the water line and as a liner. Benefit They're Real Mascara

Cheeks:
Inglot Pressed Powder in 68 as a contour/blush

Lips
MAC Magenta Lip Pencil
OCC Lip Tar in Hoochie

Vanity| Face of the Day: Amethyst Lips

If you follow me on Facebook, you've already seen this picture of me. This pic documents a rare moment of me wearing makeup on my day off.

I let my Twin pick out a hair color for me without questioning him and I think he did a bang-up job. Its Warm Brown by Feria.

I bought the glasses from a street vendor in the St. Marks strip in the East Village. $10.

Face: MAC Concealer in NC 50 (worn as foundation) - this is the lightest formula MAC has (in my findings)
Cheeks: (dubiously complicated) MAC Lovejoy on apples of cheeks.(pink bronze color) MAC Lovething on backs of cheeks (reddish color) MAC Blunt under cheekbones as a contour (dark brown)
Lips: Clinique Creamshaper Pencil in Starry Plum (dark purple color) MAC Up the Amp Lipstick (lavendar) Illamasqua Fierce Lip Gloss - gives it that icy purple color.

a picture in natural sunlight so that you see the makeup is not that severe.
