Poetry| lips

I stare at the thickness
of the skin underneath your nose
wanting to taste the essence of you
you speak and I see the movement of your mouth
wondering what it would feel like on mine

I want to feel your skin
the warmth of your body
want to feel your tongue on my collarbone
as it slides up the side of my neck
licking until you reach my earlobe
slight bite

grab the back of my head
straddle the line between
rough and soft

and kiss me.

until my knees weaken
you are my pillar of strength

until the world melts away and
it is just you and I together

I stare at you as you speak to me
at the thickness of the skin underneath your nose
and I get hungry for you

I want to kiss you
sweetly
aggressively
forcefully
gently

sliding my fingers on your head
on your face
in your beard
along the broadness of your shoulders

I think of you.
when you are not around.
and I envision
the thickness of the skin
underneath your nose.

Poetry| pieces

i am the porcelain
doll that has been broken
I glued myself together
the ceramic edge of my cracks are sharp
and I remember the fall

from grace
into love
that turned to hate

and I see the fault lines
in the mirror that is your face
and I want

to smooth both of us
sand and shape your heart
and feel the strength of your hand as it holds mine

be mine
I am already yours

what can be ours?

I was told they could never put humpty dumpty back together again
and I am still missing small pieces of myself
wanting to be loved whole
complete
wanting you to want me to want you
wanting you
completely
without question

love is a complete statement

hoping for more than fairytales
I weave the story of us in my mind
like rumple
turning straw into gold
turning no into yes
turning my heart warm from cold.

there are pieces of my heart that have not seen the Sun
bits of the iceberg that needs chipping

and I just wonder.

Write| Short #1

She watched him as his eyes darted past her. They were playing chicken, looking past the brown ones she possessed, desperately trying to hold his for a moment. All she needed was a second of pure unadulterated eye contact to know all she needed to know and that was – if she were wasting her time with him. She gazed upon his ebony skin, dark and rich from the African sun. It held a natural radiance that she wanted to bask in. She wished she could bathe in the chocolate confection that covered him. She wanted under it like a blanket to keep her warm. Her eyes centered in on the soft mounds of flesh that were his lips. Soft and inviting, she watched them move. He was speaking but she was focused on the pink pillows that house his teeth and tongue. All that he was saying was white noise. She struggled to focus.

She snapped herself back, earnest on her first quest and that was to look into the almond shaped windows to her beloved’s soul. She implored them to speak to her. She wanted the truth. Actually, she wanted to hear her truth coming from him. She studied his face again, his wide nose, the curl of his long lashes, the thick brows over his sepia-colored eyes, his short thick curly mane and those lips… If they ever touched hers, she was sure she’d not be able to handle it. How could a woman be able to withstand that much pleasure from a man that beautiful?

“You understand?” he asked looking at her, his eyes perusing her face as well.

A question! He’d asked her a question about something he’d just said and she hadn’t a clue as to what it was. She nodded, unsure of any other alternative. Inside, she knew. She knew what he’d said and that he would never understand how she felt about him. The depth of her admiration for him ran like the river that flowed in the chasm of their hearts that would never be joined.

She turned to leave. Her heart was heavy and her head was down. She hated this part. She hated the end of her relationships. It felt like the never-ending loop to a song she couldn’t get out of her head. The words bubbled up and came out of her before she could work to stop them.

“Just tell me you love me,” she said.

She didn’t wait for a response. In that instant, their eyes locked. He was speechless. She knew what he would say. She walked out of the door, out of his life forever and into the chill of winter.
